In every business relationship, trust is what makes things work.
When you sign an account over to a collection agency, you’re doing something significant: you’re handing off responsibility for a debt to experts, so you can focus on earning new money.
That’s how it should be. You move forward, while we handle the follow-through.
At MetCredit, we take that trust seriously, and it goes both ways.
Trust Is the Foundation of Recovery
When a business assigns an account to us, it’s placing faith in a promise:
That MetCredit will pursue recovery ethically, respectfully, and efficiently while maintaining transparency at every step.
Our clients know that our role is to represent them professionally — protecting their brand and relationships while securing the money they are owed. That trust is what has made us the industry leaders since 1973, and it’s something we’ve earned one debt recovery at a time.
But trust only works when it’s mutual.
The Honour System of Collections
Once an account is placed with a collection agency, it’s important that the creditor steps back and lets the process work.
Occasionally, and sometimes even after the first contact with our team, a debtor responds by reaching out directly to the original creditor or sends payment straight to them.
We understand why: it may feel faster, more comfortable, and sometimes is easier because they know you and have established payment processes.
But when that happens, and a client simply then tells us, “we no longer need your services,” it becomes a problem of fairness and transparency.
That payment was the result of our work, even if the transaction wasn’t made through us (in accordance with our agreement). Our collectors’ skill, persistence, and professionalism are what prompted the action. Ignoring that is a breach of the service contract … and just as importantly, a major breach of trust.
Why Mutual Trust is So Important
The collection process is built on an honour system that works only when both sides uphold it:
- Our clients trust us to act professionally, represent their business well, and report results accurately.
- We trust our clients to disclose any payments received directly from the debtor while an account is active with us
That reciprocity is what keeps the entire system ethical and effective. It ensures accurate reporting, fair compensation for the work performed, and, above all, continued respect between partners.
Without that trust, the entire industry would need to operate in a far more restrictive, less human way. Instead, we’ve built a model based on honesty, communication, and mutual confidence: values that define how we do business.
Trust Earned, Trust Protected
We’ve spent more than fifty years earning the trust of Canadian businesses. Our Solution-Oriented Recovery™ approach is one we designed to resolve debt issues efficiently while preserving relationships. We operate with complete transparency: every account, every transaction, and every report is tracked, documented, and available to our clients.
That transparency works both ways. When a debtor pays you directly, simply let us know. We’ll adjust records, account for commissions accurately, and close the file if the debt is fully satisfied.
We’re in this together, and when both sides honour their part of the agreement, everyone wins.
The Business Value of Honour
In a world of automated payments and AI-driven interactions, trust remains one of the few truly human currencies in business. It’s the foundation of every partnership, contract, and transaction.
The businesses that thrive long term are those that operate with integrity, keeping promises even when no one is watching. At MetCredit, that’s the standard we’ve held ourselves to since 1973.
Trust us. We trust you.
It’s how ethical collections work … and why they work SO well.
